Amakhala Game Reserve
A spectacular stretch of rolling hills and unspoilt coastline in the Eastern Cape has undergone a remarkable transformation into a vibrant conservation initiative.
Set in the heart of this reclamation area is the 8,500 hectare, malaria-free Amakhala Game Reserve. Here, the Big 5 roam freely on the land they were driven from generations before. Indigenous plant species abound, and are reclaiming the land, bringing with them a wealth of bird life. Set throughout this emerging eden, ten secluded, luxury establishments made up of Luxury Lodges, Tented Camps and a restored Country House, offer guests a selection of star rated accommodation to choose from.
Wildlife likely to be encountered during game drives are the "Big Five", lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard as well as cheetah, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and plenty of antelope species.
