This former German colony is harsh, arid, huge, and includes the Namib Desert, one of the driest deserts on the planet. There is also wonderful wildlife and the Fish River Canyon is one of the wonders of Africa.

The Capital City of Namibia, Windhoek, is just over an hour’s flight from Johannesburg. From here you can travel to places like Swakopmund and Sossusvlei, famous for their magnificent Sand Dunes.

Take a trip to The Etosha National Park for some very different game viewing, or visit the eerie Skeleton Coast.
Best time to visit

Windhoek and surrounds – between May and September.   From November to March, the summer is HOT with HEAVY RAINS, making the gravel roads impassable.  December/January are main school holidays.  Accommodation is very full at this time.

Southern Namibia – Sossusvlei, Luderitz, Keetmanshoop.  AVOID the summer which is extremely hot.  Best time is WINTER between May and September.  The desert can be bitterly cold in winter.
